Act of Valor

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

- Act of Valor - Chief Tecumseh (the movie)

This is from the movie Act Of Valor, which if you have not seen it, I -highly- recommend it. It is based on true events and it's very bad ass and it also hits close to home.

New to Me.... Quotes I came across today.

“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.” Jess C. Scott, (1: The Intern)

“I heard what you said. I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.” - Shana Abé

“But my hands are in the right place."
"Heart," I corrected. "Your heart's in the right place."
"Yeah, but my hands are in an even better place."
And so they were.” - Rachel Vincent, (Before I Wake)

“I believe in love. I believe in hard times and love winning. I believe marriage is hard. I believe people make mistakes. I believe people can want two things at once. I believe people are selfish and generous at the same time. I believe very few people want to hurt others. I believe that you can be surprised by life. I believe in happy endings.” - Isabel Gilles

“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.” - Marilyn Monroe

“Sexiness wears thin after awhile and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that is a treat.” - Joanne Woodward

“I nod, thinking of how difficult marriage can be, how much effort is required to sustain a feeling between two people - a feeling that you can't imagine will ever fade in the beginning when everything comes so easily. I think of how each person in a marriage owes it to the other to find individual happiness, even in a shared life. That is the only real way to grow together, instead of apart.” - Emily Griffin, (Heart of the Matter)

Men & Crying

why are men taught they can't cry? or why won't they cry? its not "manly"... that's so sexist. crying is important. it's part of dealing with your emotions and healing. it also helps you understand yourself and your feelings. if you don't cry, hold it all inside... what happens then? you can't heal from it. crying really does us a little magic and we all need magic in our lives. crying isn't weak nor does it make anyone weak... sure, some people cry more than others, some more sensitive than others, but we all need to cry.

I'm not gonna lie but I love a man who isn't afraid to cry and does.

Linkin Park

sometimes beginnings aren't so simple : sometimes goodbye's the only way : And the sun will set for you : the sun will set for you : and the shadow of the day : will embrace the world in grey : and the sun will set for you..... - Linkin Park (one of the best lyrics ever)

don't want to reach for me. do you? : i mean nothing to you : the little things give you away : and now there will be no mistaking : the leaves are breaking : all you've ever wanted : was someone to truly look up to you : and six feet under water, I do : hope decays : generation disappears : washed away : as a nation simply stares : don't want to reach for me, do you? : i mean nothing to you : the little things give you away : but there will be no mistaking : the leaves are breaking : all you've ever wanted : was someone to truly look up to you : and six feet under water, now i, now i do : .... Linkin Park (profound song)

‎you promised me the sky : then tossed me like a stone : you wrap me in your arms : and chill me to the bone : : there's truth in your lies : doubt in your faith : what you build, you lay to waste : there's truth in your lies : doubt in your faith : all i've got is what you didn't take : So, i, i won't be the one : be the one to leave this : in pieces... -- Linklin Park

<3 <3 <3

a little something.........

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see....

once in a while, in an ordinary life, love gives you a fairy tale.... ♥

a little inspiration

/people observe the colors of a day only at it's beginnings and ends, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. a single hour can consist of thousands of different colors./

(- a book i'm currently reading   The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak)

ryan star "last train home"

and if you wait for me/ i'll be the light in the dark if you lose your way/ and if you wait for me/ i'll be your voice when you don't know what to say/ i'll be your shelter/ i'll be your fate/ i'll be forever/ hold on to love/ and wait for me/ i'll be the last train/ i'll be... your last train home/

Quote of the Day

We are all at our best when we are giving. in fact, we are most like God when we are giving.    - unknown
